As most of you know, the City of Unionville has corporate status and its own local government.  The city has a mayor and other elected officials who govern the business practices of the City of Unionville.  The Unionville Police Department is overseen by the Unionville City Council.

Police Chief Josh Mathes is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the Unionville Police Department.  Presently the police department consists of the Police Chief and 2 full-time police officers who patrol a total of 2.00 sq. mi (5.17 km2). The population of Unionville based on the 2010 census was 1,865 and is the county seat of Putnam County.
